The District IX Committee established an award for the outstanding wrestler of the District IX tournament.
The redipient of the award is selected by the coaches of the wrestlers participating in the tournament.
This award is known as the Joseph J. Kata Outstanding Wrestler Award. Joe Kata, at the time of his death wasSuperintendent
of the Redbank Valley Schools and President of the Board of Control of the PIAA.
